Social Media Trends You Should be Aware of

One of the easiest things is to fall behind on your social media. I’ll tell you why. It is transforming constantly and I don’t mean algorithms and look of the feed on your phone. The major part of the change is caused by the users.

There is always someone who is trying new things and some of them work, therefore expectations from your followers get higher.

Here we list social media trends you should be aware of to meet the high expectations as a business.

Commercial Intent

More and more people use social media to sell. You, as a real estate professional can take advantage of this trend.

It’s important to understand that social media is not only for branding and customer research, it’s there to sell too.

Bottom line, you can absolutely use it or branding and connecting with people, but remember to put up listings once in a while.

Social media can help you convert

Speed

Remember when I mentioned high expectations? Here we go- social media users expect an answer within an hour if they try to engage with a brand/business.

I can’t stress this enough, you need to be very fast with your responses with reviews, especially bad ones and private messages. Basically any type of engagement your users try to establish.

If you can’t manage to do this alone, maybe try hiring a social media manager? Or an intern will do, too.

Just remember-  responding is time sensitive on social media

Influencer Marketing

Here are some interesting facts: 45% of businesses/organizations plan to use influencer marketing in their social media strategy. Social media influencers with 1m + followers can charge $10,000 per post.

Question- what if you don’t have spare $10,000 to spend on influencer marketing?

Here is another option: you can use micro-influencers in your niche, which has two huge benefits:

First, because they don’t have that many followers, they charge way less too.

Second, they are perceived as more loyal to their followers and consequently are trusted more by them.

If you have a marketing budget, definitely consider micro-influencer marketing, it can turn out very cost and quality effective for you.

Ephemeral Content

2019 was a good year for stories, 4 out of 5 brands use stories for marketing purposes. Most popular mainstream platforms for stories are- Instagram with 300 million daily users, Snapchat with 191 million users and Facebook app and messenger together with 220 million reach.

The trend is going to get bigger, so if you haven’t already, get on it.

There are also free platforms which you can use to design pictures for your stories, like: Canva.com

Infographics

Data visualization will continue being attractive to users, especially in such data-driven industries like real estate.

If you have never used this technique before, you’d be surprised how much attention simply put statistics could get. The thing is that Statistics carry so much meaning, sometimes this meaning is unexpected and shocking, but overlooked. Most people overlook the information, because it’s just numbers.

What you can do is take those numbers and make it more visible and fun to look at with infographics.

Don’t worry about technicality, there are more than enough free samples you can use

Here is the free platform for specifically Infographics: Picktochart

Personalized Content

The biggest mistake companies or professional accounts make is that they play too safe. No matter what kind of audience you have, they are still humans and they still go to social media to have fun.  So, don’t be afraid to have fun on social media.

Look at the biggest accounts out there and see how personal they are with their users. The most popular ones that come to my mind is Netflix and Wendy’s. Now, real estate is way different than the industries these companies are in, but they are still huge corporations and if being personal and casual work for them, it can work for you too.

Remember that no matter the commercial intent, social media is still for fun.

Chatbots

This is the new cool thing everyone tries out. Online marketers predict the trend with this one is only going to grow.

Chatbots are definitely here to stay and revolutionize the social media, They can have their own personality and represent your brand at all times.
