    How to get a Real Estate License in Michigan

    Real estate license candidates in Michigan must be at least 18 years old and complete 40 hours of pre-license training.


    The exam consists of 115 questions that must be completed within 180 minutes. The first section tests the candidate’s knowledge of real estate principles and includes the following subjects:
    • Property ownership
    • Land use controls
    • Valuation
    • Financing
    • Principles of agency
    • Property condition
    • Contracts
    • Transfer of title
    • Practice of real estate
    • Calculations
    • Specialty areas
    The second section tests candidate knowledge of state real estate laws and regulations and includes the following subjects:
    • Duties and powers of the real estate board
    • Licensing requirements
    • Licensee requirements
    • Additional state topics
