How to get a Real Estate License in North Carolina

Real estate license applicants in North Carolina must be at least 18 years old and have a social security number. They also must complete a 75-hour pre-licensing course or have a college degree in real estate.

Exam

The North Carolina real estate exam consists of 140 questions that must be completed with 240 minutes. The first examination section includes questions on the following national topics:
  • Agency relationships and contracts
  • Real property ownership
  • Finance
  • Real property
  • Marketing regulations
  • Property management
  • Real estate calculations
The second examination section includes question on the following state topics:
  • N.C. real estate law
  • Other N.C. laws and practices
  • General real estate topics
