How to get a Real Estate License in New Mexico

In New Mexico you must be 18 years old, submit to fingerprinting, complete 90 hours of pre-license education, and pass the state exam.

Exam

The New Mexico real estate exam consists of 130 questions that must be completed within 180 minutes. The first section of the exam includes questions on the following national topics:
  • Property ownership
  • Land use control
  • Valuation
  • Financing
  • Principles of agency
  • Property condition
  • Contracts
  • Practice of real estate
  • Transfer of title
  • Real estate calculations
  • Specialty areas
The second section of the exam includes questions on the following state topics:
  • Real estate commission
  • Licensing requirements
  • Real estate commission regulations
  • Broker duties
  • Additional topics
