    How to get a Real Estate License in Massachusetts

    In Massachusetts, the applicant must be 18 years old, complete 40 hours of education at a board-approved real estate school, and receive three endorsements from people unrelated to the applicant.


    The exam consists of 120 questions that must be completed within 240 minutes. The first section includes the following general real estate topics:
    • Property ownership
    • Land use controls
    • Valuation and market analysis
    • Financing
    • Principles of agency
    • Property condition
    • Contracts
    • Practice of real estate
    • Real estate calculations
    • Specialty areas
    • Additional topics
    The second section includes the following state real estate topics:
    • Duties and powers of the Board of Registration of Real Estate
    • License requirements
    • Licensee requirements
