    How to get a Real Estate License in Louisiana

    Applicants in Louisiana must be 18 years old and a high school graduate. They must complete 90 hours of pre-licensing courses, pass the state licensing exam, submit to a background check, and hold errors and omissions insurance.


    The Louisiana real estate exam consists of 135 questions that must be completed within 180 minutes. The first section tests knowledge of national real estate topics such as:
    • Property ownership
    • Land use controls
    • Valuation
    • Financing
    • Principles of agency
    • Property condition and disclosures
    • Contracts
    • Transfer of titles
    • Practice of real estate
    • Calculations
    The second section tests knowledge of state real estate topics such as:
    • Duties and powers of the real estate commission
    • Licensing requirements
    • Statutory requirements
    • Civil law
    • Law of agency
